Newborn Snuggles | Burlington Newborn Photographer | Robyn S. Russell Photography

I love my job. I really do. Snuggling with newborns all day — it really is the life. Katie and Herbert drove all the way from Newmarket for their newborn session and I couldn’t be more pleased with how their session turned out. I mean seriously, just take a look at this. Sigh. Something about daddies and babies. It just melts me. I love how serene Herbert looks holding his new bundle of joy (and how simply adorable baby Sebastian is with that delicious smile)!

OK … I must stop melting if I want to finish this blog post. Sebastian came almost a month early and surprised both his parents with his arrival. And I understand why. His parents are incredibly easy going and loving — clearly, he was anxious to meet his gorgeous Mommy and Daddy.

Sebastian came to see me at 20 days of age after spending his first few days in the hospital. I always recommend that newborns be photographed in the first 5-10 days of life. After that, it can be more challenging for them to stay asleep for their session. It’s not to say that some babies beyond 10 days of age won’t cooperate. In fact, I had two very sleepy babies in February who were 20 days of age and rocked their session (Sebastian being one of them). As you know, some things just can’t be helped. A baby’s health should always come first. But if your baby is in good health and eating well after being brought home from the hospital, it’s always less stressful (on the baby and their parents) for their first time in front of the camera to occur when they’re itty bitty!

The photos above were taken with a macro lens. Since adding the 60mm micro to the lineup, I have been spending more time capturing beautiful baby bits. I designed a gorgeous 10×20 flushmount storyboard for Katie and Herbert based on Sebastian’s best bits tee-hee! I can’t tell you how beautiful it is! The 60mm is a soft and creamy lens. It’s really intuitive so I highly recommend it for those who may not want or need the 100mm. And yes, I have used the 100mm many times and prefer the 60mm! ;)

Katie & Herbert, thank you so much for trusting me with your precious memories. You have a beautiful family! I look forward to capturing many more moments with you in the future! All my best! Robyn xo
